Spinning into Sucess

Last week in class we learned about industrialization. Each group researched one of the four topics (people, technology, resources and transportation) that helped make this a revolution.

Without people, obviously the industrial revolution would not have excelled as fast as it did. During the 1700s farmers began to improve their farming strategies. Rich landowners took over and started to grow new crops and bigger fields. Farming became less work and more efficient with the use of new machines, therefor more people moved into cities to find new work. Now the famine rates have reduced drastically, and woman are eating healthier making healthy babies, so the life expectancy is rising.

Another reason the industrial revolution took off so fast is because of the resources. In 1709, Abraham Darby found a new, effect way to use iron. He used coal to melt iron making it cheaper and better quality. Iron was then used in making the steam engine and machinery. Cotton was also a successful natural resource during the industrial revolution. Eventually factories were made for spinning cotton, because the machines were so big. The demand was very large, so it was sent all over the world to places like India and Britain.
