Union and Confederate Advantages in the Civil War

During this unit, we were instructed to research data on the strategies and advantages used by the North and South during the civil war. I choose population as my first chart because it just shows how much the Union outnumbered the Confederates. Another statistic i found significant was the amount of factories. These buildings were very important because it supplied tons of ammunition and clothes for the soldiers in battle. Along with the factories, it was a huge advantage to have more railroad mileage to transport the items from the factories. From my piktochart above you can see that the North had more than double the train tracks as the South. One of the few advantages the South had was the amount of military colleges, they had seven of the eight in the United States located there. This gave the Confederate side more knowledge on war strategies. After making these charts I realized how much more prepared the North was over the South.
